Post the Sixth: The Mournful Memories

Well it appears as though the fires caused no lasting damage.

I suppose that is all for the best. Though the fact that we seem to have no fire department could be cause for concern. In normal circumstances I would most likely sugest forming a volunteer ...department of some type. However I doubt very much that would be successful here.

[There is a deep sigh, after he believes he's put the phone away]

Why did it have to be fire?...

kinda here and not here all at once ):

You forgot to hang up.

But yeah, you're not the only one who can't deal with fire.

Oh, my appologizes. I didn't realize I had left the phone off the hook.

[There's a smaller sigh this time]...I do not have a...pleasent history when it comes to fire.

My name is Lemony Snicket, might I ask to whom I am speaking to?

Pyro and Hunter decided on a name |D

[identity profile] brbpouncingyou.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry to hear that, Lemony.

You can call me Hunter. Or, if you want, Allan. Since that's my unofficial name.

I've just been burned one too many times. You lose a house?

Aw...

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Your unoffical name?

...I have lost many things to fires over the years. Houses, my reputation, information, the woman I loved....

[identity profile] brbpouncingyou.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Hunter's more a title than anything. I can't remember my real name, so a friend of mine and I decided on Allan.

...That's... really sad, Lemony. If it makes you feel better, nobody was injured in the fires. As far as I know, anyway.

[identity profile] eldest-hatter.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
You're safe then Mr. Snicket?

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, quite. Even the drones in my household seem to have reverted back to their usual docile, a word which here means, not trying to attack me, behaviour

Did you and your family manage to stay safe?

[identity profile] eldest-hatter.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, Arthur, Tiffany and I are all safe, though Arthur suffered some burns from the acid rain.

I'm glad you are safe.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad as well. [And there is a small smile in his voice...it's a miracle...]

Did you recieve anything from the mayor yet?

[identity profile] eldest-hatter.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Something from the mayor? No, I'm afraid not. Why?

[personal profile] braided_icarus 2009-11-15 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
...I didn't like the fire either. Brought back memories for me too.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
In the very least, it is gone now. However I doubt I will be able to sleep soundly for a while.

[There is a sigh] It seems that there are many horrible memories attached to fire...

[personal profile] braided_icarus 2009-11-18 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, seems that way. Least we're not the only ones.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2009-11-20 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
That's true. I wish you the best with any painful memories you might have.

[personal profile] braided_icarus 2009-11-22 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm, you too, Lemony

[identity profile] bustydefense.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure there are enough people here who could and would help combat any other fires that might threaten us.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
...I hope that is the case. Fire can be a truly destructive element.

[identity profile] bustydefense.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. I know a number of people were worried about the fire spreading.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. I admit that thought crossed my mind several times as well.

[identity profile] bustydefense.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure whether or not to be surprised that it didn't.

[identity profile] muffled-noises.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
What did fire ever do to you?

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
What did fire ever do to me?

[Congrats, there is now a harsh tone in his voice]

My dear sir, what has it not done?

It..it has claimed the lives of friends and family, including the woman I loved. It has brought about the destruction of countless buildings and homes of both myself and aquentinces. Destroying hundreds and thousands of books in the process And..it has started a series of unfortunate events for three children that are now on the run from a horrible, dispicable man who wishes to see them dead....

[He trails off. He could actually go on but he's run out of steam, and is about to cry]

That...that is what fire has done to me.

[identity profile] muffled-noises.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh.

*there's a pause*

It killed my parents and burned the hell out of me, but I still love it.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[There is a long pause...he is not brushing away a few tears.]

That is most remarkable.
