mysilenceknot: (all the songs are depressing)

Post the Twelfth: The Melodious Music

[If you are walking by the park you might find a secluded area where a man is sitting in the shade and playing the accoridan. This man would be Lemony. The music sounds something like this but he isn't singing. Just sitting there and playing away]

[identity profile] passes-out.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
[With his hands behind his back, dressed in his customary black but in the cut of what the casual wear for those in the 1950's would wear in the late spring, early summer, he stops to regard the music. His hands were hurting from his regain of his scars on his hands that finally stopped bleeding. He listened to the music and closed his eyes. The tune sounded depressing but very appropriate from the morale of the inhabitants of Mayfield.]

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
[The tune is despressing because it's a warning but as he's not singing the lyrics that's hard to tell. After he finishes that song he stops playing for the moment and sits there quietly]

[identity profile] passes-out.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
[He blinks and thinks about the tune and the ominous tone it carried.]

I cannot help but think that there was a reason behind the song. Care to share with me?

[His hands began to hurt again and he took a seat on the bench.]

I have never heard anything like it before.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
[He blinks, slightly startled and looks over]

Ah there is.

An....acquaintance of mine wrote it for me. For my first book.

[identity profile] passes-out.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
How fascinating!

[There was something that gripped him to his seat and he wanted to learn more.]

Would I be indulged in learning more of this tale you constructed?

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortuneatly the tales in my books are not fictional.

For many years I have record the terrible history of the three Baudelaire orphans and their attempts to escape the greedy clutches of the wicked Count Olaf. This way the whole world will know their story and horrendous deads the Count has commited.

[identity profile] passes-out.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[He looks thoughtful for a moment and nods slowly.]

A truly gripping story indeed. Those children needed to have their story told and by doing so, that is a heroism that goes without saying for those that read it.

I am curious now, did the children manage to escape his terrible grasp of tyranny?

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[There is an agitated look]

At the moment I can't be sure. I happened to be taken away before I was able to finish my investigations.

[identity profile] passes-out.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
[He notices this expression and nods.]

I am sorry. To know that you care and the despair you suffer, I respect you all the more. I hope that you can return to finish your investigation and I will do my best to ensure that you return safely.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
[You are an odd person sir. He sighs]

Thank you. I have certain responsiblities that I need to attend to when I get home.

[Not just the three children but Be..his niece. He'd promised himself he'd finally meet her]

[identity profile] passes-out.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
[His upper lip twitches slightly. It may not be something that he can fulfill alone but he will try.]

As do the most of us.

[He looked at the accordian with a curios expression.]

How does this work? It has....so many buttons.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Which is why working together will no doubt be advantagous to all of us.

[And that's just his way of saying, he doesn't expect you to]

Oh it's quite simple.

[Moves the accoridian over to show him]

The keyboard is on one side and the buttons are on the other. You use them while pumping the instuament so the air flows through and creates the sound.
It takes time to memorize all of them but there are only so many notes after all.

[identity profile] passes-out.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
A fascinating instrument indeed.

[He takes a closer look at it and begins examining the accordion with intent interest.]

Where can someone purchase one?

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
In a music store I would suppose. This one was returned to me by the town.

[There is a flicker of a smile on his face as he looks at his intrament.]

[identity profile] passes-out.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
[He furrows his brow in thought for a split second and looked at his hands before rubbing them.]

I suppose some returns offer merit whilst others are less than welcomed.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yes...

[His eyes flicker to his ankle before looking over at Crane]

I take it you recieved something more unwelcome back?

[identity profile] passes-out.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
[He showed his hands. The bleeding finally stopped.]

Yes and the memories that go along with it.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I see.

[Looking at hands]

Those look like they would be painful memories indeed.

I had to do a double take when the comment thingie wanted me to "report an unfortunate event"....

[identity profile] ufosrreal.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
((The park might b an offshoot from the library, but it was also an excellent place to read a book! So! Here's we have a Sheska. carrying twenty in her arm. She walks by caring the wondrous stack and then passing, realized the accordion is going and stops and watches a moment.

She seems a little transfixed. ))

My work here is done :)

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Lemony is still playing for a while but when he stops he looks over and notices the woman with the books]

My word, that is a lot of books.

[identity profile] ufosrreal.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! Uhm, not really... I can probably finish this in a sitting.... ((A sitting being the entire day.))

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[And you get an honest to goodness smile. That's his first one here.]

Remarkable. You must enjoy reading a great deal.

[identity profile] ufosrreal.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Well sure! I've loved reading since I was a kid!

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[He nods]

There is something wonderfully remarkable about reading. I enjoy it a great deal myself.

[He puts the accordian to the side. Where there are actually two books stacked.]

I'm terribly sorry. Where are my manners?

My name is Lemony Snicket. It's a pleasure to meet you.

[identity profile] ufosrreal.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, uhm... My name's Sheska. Its nice to meet you too, Mr. Snicket.

D...do you mind if I sit here?

[identity profile] ufosrreal.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
((Sheska sets her books down, knocking a few over, but taking them back up a few short seconds later. She sits and opens a book quietly.

Now, he seems like a nice guy, which was part of the reason she sat down, the other part because he wasn't a creepy drone, which was normally who she deals with.

The problem? She sucks at small talk. She reads.... very quickly... Turning pages almost faster than Lemony could look at them.))

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[And he's rather curious as she speed reads.]

I'm sorry to disturb you but might I ask what you are reading?

[identity profile] ufosrreal.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... Nancy Drew! Here ((She offers the book for him to see. Its one of the more "recent" additions.))

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-12 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[He takes it and looks at and smiles a little bit]

I remember reading those books. And the Hardy Boys.

Are you enjoying them?

[identity profile] ufosrreal.livejournal.com 2010-05-12 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
((She nods a little--) Mhmm! They're kind of easy to read, but a new book's a new book.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-15 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[He nods at it and then holds it back to her]

Yes. And considering how difficult it is to find books in this place.

[identity profile] ufosrreal.livejournal.com 2010-05-16 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Y-yea.. some of the... stuff in the women's fiction section kinda... off. ((Romance Novels. ahhh...))

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Have one startled look as the song ends]

Oh hello. I didn't realize anyone was there.

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
It's an accordian. It was returned to me recently.

[identity profile] hourai-branch.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooh.

[Tries to poke one of the keys]

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
[It goes down, playing a note]

See you play those like you would on a key board and press the buttons over here.

[Shows her the side with the many buttons]

All the while moving the instrument in and out like a bellows.

[identity profile] hourai-branch.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
That's the best instrument ever!

[identity profile] mysilenceknot.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
I like to think so.
